The people of BC have voted YES in a big way – telling the government to extinguish the harmonized provincial/federal sales tax.

Boundary Similkameen Ranks Top 25
Residents from the Boundary Similkameen spoke loud and clear today telling the Liberal Government they were not in favour of keeping the HST. The constituency’s results, 59% in favour of extinguishment, were higher than the Provincial average of 55% respectively. In fact, it placed this area 25th of 85 electoral districts.
“This is a momentous day for the people of BC”, said Marji Basso, BC NDP Provincial candidate. “The citizens of this area and the Province sent a strong message that they are not in favour of a regressive tax that burdens our working families, while failing to stimulate the economy.”
Basso said that The New Democrats will now go back to focusing on issues that affect healthcare, families, education, and the environment. “It will be my job to connect with the citizens of the Boundary Similkameen area to listen to local concerns and how real changes can be made to ensure sustainable rural communities.”
