On August 22, 2011, at 12:41 p.m., Oliver/Osoyoos RCMP were dispatched to a watercraft collision at Gyro Beach in Osoyoos. A 19 year-old Abbotsford male on a rental Seadoo, struck another Seadoo being operated by his 23 year old sister and 50 year old
aunt. The male apparently approached his sister to speak with her, not realizing that he had too much momentum and struck the other Seadoo with force in the rear. Both operators were transported to South Okanagan General Hospital for examination but were later released with minor injuries. Operator inexperience is believed to be a significant contributing factor. No charges are being pursued.
