Gagan reading poetry in mask Friday at Oliver Alliance Church
Gagan Ganger is the daughter Asha and Bill Ganger. Although Gagan lives in a small town she has big dreams. She one day hopes to become a surgeon and go to McGill University. Gagan has many goals including: travelling the world, learning fluent French and riding the Trans-Siberian Express across Asia. Having lived in Oliver her whole life, Gagan realizes she will have to leave to pursue her goals, but one day would like to return. Some of Gagan’s interests are field hockey, reading, going to the library, and tutoring. What Gagan likes best about Oliver is the fact that everyone knows each other.
This is Sierra Hammond. Sierra loves to perform onstage. She likes to learn about other countries and diverse cultures. In the future she would like to pursue a career that involves working with children that have special needs, or teaching young children. In her spare time she likes to be with friends. One issue Sierra believes needs more attention in our society, is children who live neighborhoods that do not have much safety and leaves them witnesses to violence and crime.
Carly Craik is the 15 year old daughter of Trish and Cal Craik. In her spare time, Carly likes to read, play soccer, jog, swim, and hang out with her friends. Her future goals include: becoming a model that has a healthy shape and helping children all around the world.
A 16 year old teen, Loveneet Brar is just living life in little old Oliver. Loveneet was born on August 9 1995. After she accomplishes her grade 12 year, she would like to study abroad at a law school in England. It’s always been a dream of hers, and she says she won’t let go! Being in a small town, Loveneet sure knows how to keep herself busy. She plays field hockey, soccer basketball, volunteers with youth cares, taught soccer this past spring, has a job, does excellent in school, and on top of that, she took part in the Oliver Ambassador Program.
Jessica Monteiro is 14 years old, she is the daughter of Maria and Tony Monteiro. She is in grade nine and attends South Okanagan Secondary School. Her interests are playing field hockey and soccer. Jessica’s hobbies are hanging with her friends, dancing, and enjoys running. She has one sister and does not have any pets. Jessica likes to dance with her friends in her spare time or enjoys going to Osoyoos to hang out with her friends from there. Jessica has been to Mexico. She has always wanted to go to Europe and visit her family in Portugal. Jessica loves to take long walks on the beach and watch the sunset.
Chiara Mason is 14 years old. Her hobbies are singing, dancing, and acting. She hopes to make a future carrer of performing by hopefully attending Capilano University. Chiara’s goals in life are to remain a honest person. She is determined to always be true to herself, and hopes that others will do the same. She feels that people should be more aware of how society affects our self image. She beleives that shouldn’t let society control us; instead we should be who we are. Never be afraid to go after what you want even if you mess up and make mistakes.
Patricia Lameiras is the 14 year old daughter of Ana Reis and Joe Lameiras. Patricia enjoys rollerblading, running, swimming and hanging out with her friends. She likes to volunteer at community events. One of her goals are to go to Africa where she wishes to help all as many poor families as possible. She really enjoys going to foreign countries and learning about their culture.
Sharna Bousfield is a 14 year old girl who is going into grade 10 this fall. She enjoys playing field hockey, talking to her friends, dancing , being in the company of young children. In the future Sharna would like to become a pre-school teacher to pursue her love of children. Loving Oliver for its smallness and its heritage. Sharna was inspired to be a candidate by Navjot Gill seeing how much she benefitted from the program.
