Two significant things happened this week for Harold King. He celebrated his 85th birthday and he stepped down as chair of the RDOS Area C “APC”.
Harold lost his wife Joan in 2003 and at that time he was asked to take her place on the Area Planning Commission. He said yes and has been on the board since then.
Harold has an Osoyoos telephone number and lives at the very southerly end of the rural area near Road 22. He has been there many many years. He was born in Manitoba but his family brought him to BC in 1927. King was raised here and has a long memory. He retired from farming his 20 acres but still lives in the same house in the orchard.
His peers on the APC all say he will be missed. Regional Director Allan Patton says he has relied heavily on Harold for his knowledge of the area.
King was a former chair of the Heritage Society but says his love for the Naturalist Club will continue and he still goes for coffee each week with some of church buddies to keep connected.
Harold had a bad car accident last year at the coast and has had health issues since them. We all wish him the best.
