The Town of Oliver is being sued by the owners of the former Mesa Hotel (Oliver Hotel) in BC Supreme Court. A writ was filed August 2 in Kelowna (File 92179) stating that owners Don Kazakoff, Lisa Chalmers, LVC Enterprises Ltd dba Mesa Hotel seek damages from the Town of Oliver as a result of their losses  over a year ago. No court date has been set.

The claim states in part that the Town is negligent in demolishing the hotel without a permit and due notification that prevented the owners the opportunity to salvage their belongings. It also claims the fire department didn’t do enough to extinguish the fire in a timely matter, and that the property owners were denied access to the hotel while others were given permission to enter and remove property.
