The standing-room-only crowd was captivated and thrilled by the glorious music emanating from Jenavieve Moore Sunday at the Oliver Word of Life Centre. And what a marvellous voice she has! Jena, who has won many local, national and now international competitions and awards for voice, is currently studying opera at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London England. She is in town this week visiting her mother, Dorothy, who acted as Jena’s accompaniest for all but two songs today. The Oliver Commmunity Arts Council took this opportunity to invite Jena to give a small, informal recital which included a peek at what goes on between singer and accompaniest during a “rehearsal” with Hanna and Paul Ellis accompanying Jena on two pieces – both educational as well as entertaining! The Arts Council then presented Jena with a cheque for $1000 to help with her tuition and other myriad expenses she will incur as she attends her second year at the Guildhall School. Jena’s performance today was also a fundraiser and the appreciative audience was generous in their support for Jena and her music career. Jena is a rising star in the world of opera and we wish her every success!
