The judges have left, the Communities in Bloom committee has completed their task and we all await a decision. Thanks to Betty Lou and her committee for more than two years of work. I had a person mention to me on a radio blog that a relative had gone through Oliver and were really impressed. I take that as a compliment to the amount of work done by owners, shop keepers, public works crews, painters and rock garden people that has changed the face of Oliver.
And there is more to come with the wall at Fields to be done soon and the town rebranding its garbage containers and downtown colour scheme.
This picture proves that a small effort can bring a big improvement. The apartment at 346th and Highway 97 recently had some landscaping done and a small fence installed. Beautiful. Notice it. Comment on it.
If every owner in town took the time to clean up and brighten up their property – this town would shine.
The new mall is almost finished, the first mall is being restructured and the downtown area is looking for new tenants. There will be many more changes in the next couple of years that will challenge us in this new economy.
Change is good.
