Fire dispatch to be done in Kelowna

Presently when you call 911 and ask for the Fire Department ~ the request is routed to the Penticton Fire Department dispatch centre. BUT – likely no more.

The Regional District has solicited bids from many existing dispatch centers including ones in Surrey, Fraser Valley and Kelowna.

Kelowna will likely be granted a five year contract for just over $1 million dollars – substantially lower than the cost proposed by Penticton. This is a saving of an incredible $1.8 million dollars.
