A number of complaints were issued in 2008 against the owners of two properties on Island Way Road – north of the Town of Oliver.
The two properties in question 37429 IW Road – containing 30 cars – east side of Road towards river and 37406 IW Road – containing 380 cars – west side of the Road. The derelict vehicles are sitting in a high flood plain adjacent to the Park Rill. Some of the cars are on the highways department’s “right of way”.
The complaints were based on unsightliness and danger to the environment. The owner of the first named property (pictured above) must take action before the end of the year but the owner of the larger problem will be ordered to take immediate action.
The Regional District Board will see all the details on these two cases this Thursday and staff will seek permission to go to court to get legal sanctions.
