The City of Penticton Council is pleased to announce that Penticton & Wine Country Tourism has submitted a joint bid on behalf of the City of Penticton and the District of Summerland to host the 2014 BC Seniors Games.
If the bid is successful, the City has agreed to commit to a cash contribution of $45,000 as well as providing in-kind support of services and facilities with a deemed value of $41,250. The District of Summerland will also provide a cash contribution and in-kind support of services and facilities should the bid be successful.
“Council supports active participation by seniors in sports, recreation and fitness and the sense of community spirit it provides, says Mayor Dan Ashton. In addition, Penticton and Summerland have many excellent venues to host the various events and the economic benefits to both communities will be substantial.”
The announcement as to the successful bidder for both the 2013 and 2014 BC Senior’s Games will be announced on September 30th, 2011.
