AREA ’C’ GAS TAX EXPENDITURE BYLAW NO. 2559, 2011
The Osoyoos Indian Band is constructing a liquid waste collection and treatment system to service their industrial park and commercial customers. The proximity of the system has created an opportunity for the Gallagher Lake area to connect to the system on a user fee basis.
The Gallagher Lake community in Area C is largely on individual septic systems which are aging and located in close proxim-
ity to Gallagher Lake, the Okanagan River and McIntyre Creek. The Deer Park subdivision developer MMM Group is proposing to connect to the Osoyoos Indian Band’s system in order to facilitate further development of the subdivision. This creates an opportunity for the Regional District to participate in the capital construction of the sewer main allowing future connec-
tions to the area residents.
The cost of the project is approximately $600,000, which is proposed to be shared evenly between MMM Group (Deer Park Developer), Osoyoos Indian Band and the RDOS.
Area C currently has $501,000.00 in its Community Works Gas Tax Fund and the expenditure requested is $200,000 to fund the RDOS contribution to the Gallagher Lake waste water collection project.
The Board adopted Bylaw No. 2559.
