The Town of Oliver has granted permission to the local curling club to lease its premises this summer on a trial basis to the Parks and Recreation Society.
This matter came before council some time ago but no arrangement had yet been struck.
A lease has been signed with the Parks and Recreation Department agreeing to pay $1000 a month to the Oliver Curling Club for 2.5 months when the building is not in use by curling club members. The Parks Society expects to make a win-win situation with increased use of all buildings and more programming. It will also use the curling club during the winter for youth recreation. Town Council’s permission was needed as the land is held in the municipality’s name.
