The aircraft belongs to the RCMP. It is a Piltaus PC-12NG out of Vancouver and was bringing two members to Oliver for a special project.
The plane blew both main tires on landing and was therefore disabled. A NOTAM closing the runway was issued last night good until 12 Noon, but the plane had been repaired and removed from the tarmac and sits on the ramp so the NOTAM was cancelled at 7:50 am.
NOTAM: Nav Canada notifys pilots that an airport cannot be used or warnings issued for special circumstances.
The RCMP had their team of engineers come up from Vancouver last night with parts and tools to replace the blown tires. It appears that something malfunctioned in the braking system to cause this as the pilot’s landing was very good otherwise. The pilot is a commercial pilot with lots of experience and a good reputation according to airport users.
