As we reach the 500 mark – never before reached on an ODN poll – I will pull the plug on this one at 12 noon today.
This ranks as the number one HOT BUTTON issue so far – we have dealt with street renaming, closure of Tuc-el-nuit School, a prison for Oliver and many other lesser issues and never had so many comments and polling done. Great to see and I really enjoy (as others do) the back and forth views expressed by readers.
Very interesting to see how the voting process works inside the computer program and what I, as publisher can see. More on that later…. maybe much later.
The National Park issue is a right/left – yes/no type of issue – It would seem there is little or no middle ground.
Personally I think there are parts of the upper cap of mountain area (e.g. “Cathedrals”, McIntrye Canyon, Vaseux wildlife that need long term protection. I think Parks Canada/advocates have done the area a disservice by trying to include as much as possilble in the boundaries.
I am not in favour of a ticket booth National Park that encompasses usable ranch and grazing land and sites that have traditionally been used by weekend sports enthusiasts and hunters.
Keep voting till noon. Then we move on.
