My name is Rhonda Bruce and I am putting my name forward to run in the Boundary Similkameen for the NDP. My mother moved her children back to her home town when I was ten. I have stayed in Oliver and raised my sons here. I have been very involved in my son’s lives. For me this was being involved in Minor Hockey, soccer hunting fishing golfing and anything the boys wanted to do.

I have worked in Health care for the past 18 years and I have seen many changes. Not all of them good. We have been told time and time again that there is no money for Health care. It is time that we talk to the working people in Health care, they have the answers. 

Some of the things that I am concerned about are seniors care, a poverty reduction plan and the Environment. I have had a chance to talk to communities about the living wage campaign and I am looking forward to talking to communities about issues that are important to them. We need to promote the Boundary Similkameen and all it has to offer.

 For the last 3 years I have been the Regional Vice-president of the Hospital Employees Union.  Being in the labour movement I have seen some of the affects of privatization and how it has impacted our seniors. I sometimes feel that living in rural BC we get over looked. I am ready to stand up and let the voices of the Boundary Similkameen be heard.

With two candidates from Oliver in the nomination race for the NDP in the Boundary Similkameen, I am sure it will an exciting race.

The other candidate is Marji Basso. Brian Taylor of Grand Forks has stepped aside.
