$4752 grant to Desert Sun Resources (South Okanagan Integrated Services Society) for a community kitchen programme. 76 participants benefited from the programme in 2009. The programme has involved the gathering of food from local farmers and the preservation for the winter months. Nutrition training is a big part of the programme.

$4009 grant to the Oliver Sagebrushers Art Club to paint a mural on the south side of the Field’s building to replace the previous community  signage that had chipped away over the course of many years.

Council has appointed Marji Basso to liaise with the Sagebrushers to complete the project. The art group hopes to finish the project in less than 3 months.

The grant money is designated in the Town budget for the community. Council will not be able to dedicate more funds until 2012.
