Last week – a weed-whacker had a field day with small flowering plants along the dyke in Oliver near the Willowglen subdivision. Owner Gloria Peace was so perturbed by the result that she phoned the Ministry of Environment in Penticton to ask why the action was taken.

Many sentences were spoken that day but one message is stuck in her mind – “you have been warned”  – words from the other end of the phone line.

This is obvisiously what the ministry doesn’t like (above)

This (below) is what the ministry likes –  it appears – as this side of the dyke was not disturbed by the machinery.
