Quad Day Ride Fundraiser held on Sat May 14th honouring the Desert Valley Hospice Society this year. Approximately 50 people set out from the Black Sage Road residence of Dora Stelkia & Rodney James @ 10:30 am & returning @ 5:00pm. The ride stopped @ many scenic sites for snacks, breaks & lunch, driving their quads, atv’s and dirt bikes through, dusty trails, sometimes covered with snow, mud and run off water. A pot luck dinner and loonie auction followed their return.
Dora Stelkia says “It was a great day all around, a little rain on our lunch break brought us all together under the pine & fir trees, right next to a creek to reminisce with old friends and get acquainted with new ones.
It was a successful adventurous way to raise awareness and money for this year’s recipients of the fundraiser, THE DESERT VALLEY HOSPICE SOCIETY. A total of $1,000.00 was raised!! Thank you to every one of whom participated, helped out, brought food and auction items. There are too many to list. It would not be possible without your generosity, compassion and willingness to give back.”
Chairperson of the Desert Valley Hospice Society, Janet Shaw (pictured at top) said “In receiving this generous donation today the Desert Valley Hospice Society wishes to thank Dora Stelkia. We greatly appreciate the support of Dora and her fellow “atv’ers” for raising funds through their annual quad ride and making these funds available to help improve end of life care in the Oliver & Osoyoos areas.”
