Oliver Elementary School 1929 building
“In 1929 a four-classroom school was built. This was considered to be a grand structure, having four classrooms, separate playrooms for boys and girls, inside plumbing and an assembly hall. It was thought that this school would take care of the district’s educational needs for all time. The 1929 building stood all alone on the hillside above the canal. The children had a playground that stretched to the hillside, and many a time boys were late getting back into class after recess because they had wandered to the extremities of the playground.”
