Our school will be doing its annual SOSS 24 hour fast for the Feed The Children group.
“Undernourishment affects about 925 million people (about 14% of the world population). On May 11th-12th, show your support by participating in the SOSS 24-hour fast. Each participant will be required to collect money pledges (minimum of $24), which will be sent through World Neighbours Canada, to help support long-term development in Burkina Faso, Honduras and Nepal. The money raised will be matched by the Canadian government through CIDA.
Participants will start fasting at 8:30 p.m. on May 11th (Wednesday) and will continue fasting until 8:30 p.m. on May 12th (Thursday).
At lunch on Thursday, you can either sign or put your handprint on a banner that will be hung in the school, saying that you’ve participated in the SOSS 24-hour fast. After school that day, the kids participating in the fast will stay at the school until 10:00 p.m. to hang out and play games, ending with a big dinner! There will be a guest speaker coming to talk about World Neighbours and what exactly it is they do.
This event is not promoting eating disorders, but will symbolize our support for those suffering from hunger, disease and poverty in underdeveloped countries.
If you have any medical conditions, just let us know and we’ll work something out :)

If you’re interested in taking part in this event, please come pick up your pledge sheets and permission slips at school from any one of us girls. If your parent/guardian has any concerns, they need to note it on the permission slip. Thank you and we hope to see your support!”
