To Oliver Daily News,
As a cub reporter, I want to let ODN know of several things going on around our school.
First of all, renovations have moved downstairs, closing down the cafeteria until the new one is constructed this year. Secondly, today the SOSS Tennis Team played at Zones in Penticton, going against OKM (Okanagan Mission), Maggie (Princess Margaret), and Summerland, we did our best but unfortunately didn’t make it, but still had lots of fun.
Last, but not least Parks & Rec. along with Boys & Girls Club and a SOSS dance committee have teamed for “A Night In Ollywood”, a community dance ages 13-18 on June 17.
The description reads : Hey y’all! – Oliver Parks and Recreation, with the help of the Boys and Girls Club and SOSS students, is hosting this fantabulous dance for youth from ages 13-18 who’d like to come from any town. Make sure to bring along some school ID or another piece of ID if you don’t have a school card to get into the dance.
There will be tons of prizes that’ll be given away throughout the night. There are prizes for Best Dressed (Hollywood style), a Dance Competition, and Door Prizes! We’ll also have a red carpet set up to go along with our Ollywood (Oliver-Hollywood) theme where you can get photo opportunities with celebrities.
Tickets will go on sale at SOSS or you can purchase them at the Oliver Recreation Centre! If you purchase in advance the price is $8.00 per ticket and at the door it’ll be $10.00.
There will also be a concession set up by the Boys and Girls club so bring some change along if you’d like some snacks or beverages.
This is an alcohol and drug-free event.
