This is a John Deere on loan from a farm equipment supplier up the valley. It will be going home soon as the Oliver Parks Board has decided to go local, and will buy the big orange machine – Kubota from Gerard’s Equipment.
Both tractors were tested by staff and board members. The recommendation was to go with a local supplier. Many members of the farming community were consulted prior to the decision.
The new tractor will cost $40,320. The Board also decided to purchase a used gang mower from the School District at a cost $4,500 and will request suppliers bid on a new small front-end mower.
The board is committed to having work done by its’ own staff with equipment it has acquired.
