ORL Board Approves a Revised Mission Statement
At the May 18 meeting of the Okanagan Regional Library Board:
· The Board approved a revised Mission Statement, Roles and Values Statement for the ORL as part of its Strategic Planning implementation process. The revised Mission Statement is “to enrich the lives of, and empower people by providing equitable access to library resources.”
· As part of the Strategic Plan, the Policy and Planning Committee reported that they are in the process of developing a Terms of Reference for a group tasked to examine how to best deliver services to the ORL’s rural communities.
· The 2010 Financial Statements and Auditors Report were approved.
· Updates were given on the progress of two new branch locations: construction on the new Vernon Branch continues on time and on budget, and the new Sicamous Branch, which will be located in the new Sicamous Municipal Hall, should be ready for move-in by late June 2011.
· It was reported that year-to-date circulation is up 2.8% over the same period in 2010.
