Petra Veintimilla
Petra Veintimilla has made the decision to run for a position on Oliver town council in the upcoming municipal election.
“I feel that the timing is right for both myself and for my family” says the mother of two young boys. “Through my involvement in the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce and the Oliver Business Association I have had the opportunity to see first hand what is working in our region and where there are areas that could use a little improvement. I would really love the opportunity to help make the decisions that are in the best interest of our community as a whole, and that will help steer it in the direction of greatness. I look forward to meeting with as many Oliverites as I can over the coming month or so, and hearing what they have to say about our beautiful town of Oliver.” Petra is an active member of the Oliver Business Association, on the Fesitval of the Grape Committee, and Past President of the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce.

My name is Cory-lee Mills, and I am running for school board trustee. I moved to Oliver 6 years ago from Alberta and love the life Oliver has to offer. I am a mother of three children who are part of our public education system.
Prior to moving to Oliver I ran a day home, and since then have had the honor of being a homemaker which has given me the opportunity to be an actively involved Mom. I am passionate about my children’s education and my own as I am currently a student taking courses towards a business management diploma. I love learning and sharing my knowledge with those I can.
When my third child was born with medical disabilities, I quickly had to learn how to be an advocate for my children, just to maneuver in the health care system, but what that also taught me was the skills to advocate for my children in the educational system as well.
I also teach catechism at Christ the King Catholic Church, and love the interaction I get to have with my students as it allows me to participate in their process of learning.
I have held the position of PAC chair for the past 4 years at Oliver Elementary School.

My involvement in the community has been vast over the years. I have been a member of South Okanagan Toastmasters for 10 years and President for the last four years, and I am an active member of the Oliver Ambassadors Committee as a Speech Coach. I am also a trained Roots of Empathy Instructor and have been involved with the program in local elementary schools for the past 7 years”.
