Paul Cowen, president and Eric Williams, member of the Silver Eagles 4281 of Penticton presented a $500 cheque to Mirjana Komljenovic, Administrator of the Agur Lake Camp Society (ALCS), today. The Silver Eagles, a motorcycle club, is known in the Okanagan for its money raising projects for charitable community organizations.
Williams explained that he first learned about ALCS when he attended their Swing For Kids golf tournament last summer. At the banquet he heard James Macaulay, born with spina bifida, share his experiences of what Agur Lake Camp means to him. On the spot he decided to encourage his club to support ALCS. The money raising project they ran resulted in the $500 donation.
In 2007 the Robin Agur family signed a 99 year lease on four acres of their land for use by the ALCS for one dollar per year. The land is on the lake, just south of the Agur’s hundred year old log cabin. Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen approved a rural land-use bylaw to allow for construction of the camp.
