Check your last Fortis bill and see if rates are increasing on your home.

I have a fairly good record keeping system so I will be checking my rates and charges for the last few years and have now reported back as per the facts at the bottom of the  page.

If you have the time and are organized look up you bills and send me an email or make a comment on this entry. Most interested in homeowners who use electric heat.

A lot of consumers in the central Okanagan seem quite irate with a two tier system of charging for electrical power.

Checked out last 22 months with charges of $62.90 per month in the winter and $44.30 per month in the summer. Gas heat with air conditioner. 1000 sq. ft.

The bills being complained about must be from homes on electric heat so to get a true comparison I would have to add the gas heat costs and average them as well.

On the surface – the bills from Fortis look fine with a monthly average charge of $50.
