MLA Linda Larson took Oliver Daily News on a brief tour of the Gallagher Lake area to ensure residents that safety is on the mind of her and the Ministry of Transportation.
Residents had earlier expressed concerns to the Regional District about safety concerns but Larson says her office was not contacted. The Ministry did however meet with residents, Larson says, and a light to illuminate the roadway at night will be installed this year.
Both of us walked back and forth to check the safety of crossing the road and arrived at a time that it would take to walk (not run) across the Highway. The two lane highway has a right only turn lane into the businesses on the west side of the road. It took 10-12 second to cross at a brisk pace with no safety issues.
